METRO, Michelin's global partner, presented prestigious Michelin plaques to Croatian restaurants that were included in the Michelin guide for 2022.

Creating unique products designed and perfected together with the best chefs in the world, such as the Metro Chef and Metro Professional brands and adapting its range and offer to their needs, METRO as a leading international wholesale company has been closely cooperating with Michelin chefs for many years.

„The dedication of Croatian restaurants in continuously maintaining the quality of the offer and the effort invested in creating a gastronomic offer, and thus in strengthening tourism and the recognition of Croatian gastronomy, are an indisputable element of high quality, which is confirmed by the new Michelin guide. Our intention is to be the preferred partner of the HoReCa sector and to further expand cooperation with local producers and in this way to implement local ingredients on the menus of top restaurants “, said Imre Horváth, President of the Management Board of METRO Croatia, during the award ceremony.

The ceremony was held on the grounds of Maškovića Han, a category zero monument, which is also the westernmost building of Islamic architecture in Europe. The authentic medieval experience with a touch of the Orient provided by the unique, mysticism and beauty of Maškovića Han served as the main motive in creating the ceremony itself. Historical tradition interwoven with modern elements exuded in every corner of this space, giving the evening a unique expression which was designed and arranged by Boris Ružić.

Given that top gastronomy contributes to an unforgettable destination experience, the significance of the Michelin award is also recognized by the Croatian National Tourist Board, one of the event's partners.

„I congratulate all the restaurants that kept their stars, i.e. their owners, chefs and hardworking teams. As of this year, Croatia has 84 restaurants holding one of the prestigious MICHELIN labels, 6 more than last year. The selected restaurants entered the exclusive circle of the best restaurants in the world and the Croatian National Tourist Board, as the national partner of MICHELIN, is extremely proud of you. MICHELIN labels provide excellent promotional potential that I believe destinations will know how to valorize already in this tourist year and additionally how to use them in the future. We are entering the very peak of the tourist season, and before us is the part of the year when on average more than one million guests per day stay in Croatian destinations, so display your plaques, stars and marks with pride“, said the Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board, Kristjan Staničić, stressing that the CNTB will continue to carry out numerous activities with the aim of positioning Croatia as a tourist destination with a rich and varied gastronomic offer.

According to the choice of Michelin, the globally most significant and recognized guide for restaurants, the gastronomic map now includes a total of 84 restaurants that hold one of the prestigious MICHELIN marks.
