Croatia records its best July in the past two years

According to data from the eVisitor system, which tracks tourist activity in commercial and non-commercial accommodation facilities as well as nautical charter traffic (eCrew system), Croatia recorded 12.4 million arrivals and 59.1 million overnight stays from January through the end of July. This represents a 1% increase in both arrivals and overnight stays compared with the same period last year.

Of the total, 56.1 million overnight stays were recorded along the Adriatic coast, an increase of 0.5% year-on-year, while continental Croatia, including the city of Zagreb, recorded more than 3 million overnight stays, up 1% compared with the same period last year.

eVisitor data also show that July recorded 4.7 million arrivals and 29.6 million overnight stays, representing a 2.5% increase in arrivals and a 1% increase in overnight stays compared with July last year. The largest number of visitors in July came from Germany, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary, among other markets.

By county, Istria, Split-Dalmatia County and Kvarner recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals, while the most visited destinations were Rovinj, Vir, Poreč, Medulin and Dubrovnik.

Looking at overnight stays by county, Istria led the way in the first seven months of the year with 16.7 million overnight stays, followed by Split-Dalmatia County with 11.1 million and Kvarner with 9.7 million. Among individual destinations, the highest number of overnight stays was recorded in Dubrovnik, Rovinj, Poreč, Split and Umag.

By source market, visitors from Germany generated the highest number of overnight stays in the first seven months, with 10.3 million, followed by domestic visitors from Croatia with 7.6 million, Slovenia with 6.7 million, Austria with 4.3 million, Poland with 3.9 million, the Czech Republic with 3 million, the United Kingdom with 2.2 million, and Hungary with 2.1 million, among others.
