CNTB Presents Croatia’s Tourism Offering at World Travel Market in London
The World Travel Market (WTM), one of the world’s largest and most important tourism trade fairs, traditionally takes place in London in early November. This year, the Croatian National Tourist Board (CNTB) is once again showcasing the full range of Croatia’s tourism offering at the event, which runs from 3 to 5 November. The Croatian delegation is headed by Tonči Glavina, Minister of Tourism and Sports, and Kristjan Staničić, Director of the CNTB, while 32 Croatian co-exhibitors are also presenting their products and services at the national stand.
On the first day of the fair, meetings were held with representatives of key partners and organisations, including Jet2.com & Jet2holidays, easyJet holidays, British Airways, Travelzoo, loveholidays, the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), CBS Travel and Travel Weekly, among others. Discussions focused on activities and results to date, with several partners announcing plans to further expand their programmes featuring Croatian destinations.
The continued strength of demand for travel among British consumers is also confirmed by ABTA’s latest Travel Trends research. According to the findings, demand for holidays in the UK market remains strong despite the rising cost of living, geopolitical uncertainty, disruptions to air travel and climate change. As many as 88% of respondents took at least one holiday in the previous 12 months, one percentage point higher than the year before and on a par with the 2019 figure. Another encouraging finding is Croatia’s position as the 13th most popular destination worldwide that British travellers plan to visit in the next 12 months, further confirming the country’s competitive standing in this important source market.
Positive trends in the UK market are also reflected in tourism figures. According to the eVisitor system, Croatia recorded 841,000 arrivals (+2%) and 4.1 million overnight stays (+1%) from British visitors in the first ten months of the year. The highest number of overnight stays was recorded in Dubrovnik-Neretva and Split-Dalmatia Counties. By destination, British visitors generated the most overnight stays in Dubrovnik, Split, Konavle, Župa dubrovačka, Rovinj and Zadar.
The presentation of Croatia’s diverse food and wine offering was complemented by a Croatian wine presentation and tasting, organised at the Croatian stand in cooperation with the Croatian National Tourist Board and the Croatian Chamber of Economy.
At this year’s fair, Croatia is presenting its tourism offering through a distinctive visual identity, with the exhibition stand’s panels and video walls featuring multimedia content inspired by the new promotional video “Croatia – I hear it’s beautiful”, starring John Malkovich.
