The Community of Tourist Guide Associations of Croatia (ZDTVH) in cooperation with the Croatian Tourist Board organised the project “Upoznaj svoju zemlju” (Get to know your country) to commemorate the Day of International Recognition of Croatia. The project includes free guided tours which will be organised in more than 40 Croatian towns and locations by members of the tourist guide societies (ZDTVH). The programs in all towns start at the same time, on Sunday 14 January 2018 at 12 p.m.

Due to high-quality resources, exceptional natural attractions and rich cultural-historic heritage, tourism is extremely important for Croatia and is something that we are all proud of. That is why the Croatian Tourist Board has readily supported and actively participated in this project of free guided tours for all citizens in Croatian towns. I am certain that the turnout and interest of our citizens will be great; they will get a chance to get to know better the towns of Croatia, as well as to see for themselves how and what is being presented to our numerous tourists from many different countries from all around the world,” said the General Director of the Croatian Tourist Board Kristijan Staničić, adding that all those who are interested can receive more information from the tourist boards of the towns participating in the project.

Kristina Nuić Prka, the president of the Community of Tourist Guide Associations of Croatia emphasised that the goal of this action was to commemorate the Day of the International Recognition of Croatia in a slightly different manner. “We invite all citizens to get to know the towns all over Croatia and to discover their hidden stories together with us. I believe that every citizen of our country can be a promoter and ambassador of their homeland; they can point out the importance of tourist employees for the international reputation of Croatia, as well as the importance of national identity and cultural heritage,” said Nuić Prka, adding that the project is sponsored by the Croatian Parliament as well.
