Croatia has once again captured the hearts of British travelers, which is clearly reflected in the six impressive awards received at the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards during the 24th ceremony of these prestigious honors. The gala took place last night at the legendary National Gallery in London, with awards for the best global destinations and tourist offerings based on votes from over four million readers of Wanderlust magazine.
Croatia was declared the second most desirable European country by a millions-strong audience, while Croatian islands ranked fourth among the most desirable in Europe. The star of the night was Dubrovnik, which earned the title of the second most desirable European city, along with a special award for sustainable tourism. Additionally, Dubrovnik-Neretva County and Istria achieved notable success, occupying sixth and seventh positions in the category of the most desirable European regions. Once again, this confirmed their exceptional diversity, beauty, and the lasting appeal of Croatian coastal and mainland destinations.
The ceremony, hosted by well-known television presenter, adventurer, and author Simon Reeve, brought together leading representatives of the global tourism industry. Throughout the evening, Croatia was in the spotlight, reaffirming its status as one of the most dynamic and beloved European destinations, according to Wanderlust readers.
"The awards we received are an exceptional recognition of Croatian tourism, as well as a confirmation that Croatia continues to strengthen its reputation as one of the most desirable and high-quality European destinations. We are especially pleased that British travelers have acknowledged not only the beauty of our coast and islands but also the efforts we invest in sustainability, preservation of authenticity, and enhancing the quality of experiences. I congratulate all the awarded destinations and am confident that this serves as a strong incentive for us to further promote Croatia as a land of extraordinary natural beauty, rich culture, and warm hospitality," stated Kristjan Staničić, Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board.
