According to the eVisitor system - which records tourist traffic generated in commercial and non-commercial facilities and nautical charter (eCrew system) - about 36,000 arrivals and about 140,000 overnight stays were recorded in Croatia during the Easter holidays, i.e., in the period from Friday, April 2 to Monday April 5 2021. Domestic tourism made for more than 24,000 arrivals and 64,000 overnight stays, while about 12,000 arrivals and 75,000 overnight stays were recorded from foreign markets.

"Given the current circumstances and the epidemiological situation, which is still very unstable in our most important tourist markets, and considering that travel is still limited, we are satisfied with the results achieved during the extended Easter weekend. Although these are not the numbers we are used to under normal circumstances, these results give us some optimism for the main summer season", said the director of the Croatian National Tourist Board Kristjan Staničić, adding that tourist results will mostly depend on the epidemiological situation, adherence to epidemiological measures and perception of our country as safe tourist destinations.

During Easter, most overnight stays were recorded in Istria (about 57,000 overnight stays), Kvarner (about 25,000 overnight stay), Zadar (about 14,000 overnight stays) and Split-Dalmatia County (about 12,000 overnight stays).  As for destinations, most overnight stays were recorded in Rovinj, Poreč, Zadar, Funtana, Medulin, Zagreb and Opatija. During the Easter holidays the largest number of overnight stays was recorded by tourists from Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia and Switzerland, and in terms of type of accommodation most overnight stays were recorded in hotels (around 58,000 overnight stays), households (around 33,000 overnight stays) and camps (about 26,000 overnight stays).

During the first three months, 1.2 million tourist overnight stays were recorded in Croatia

Let us add that in the period from January to the end of March, a total of 352,000 arrivals and 1.2 million overnight stays was recorded in Croatia (61 percent of the results from the same period last year).
